How to prepare chammanthi in mixi

Kerala cuisine is adorned all over the world. Both rich in aroma and taste, we steal the minds of million every day. People far and near from all around the world visit to enjoy the serene beauty of the place, to indulge in a peaceful experience of the age old Ayurvedic practises and eat the rich Kerala cuisine.

One such dish of Kerala that is so simple to make and yet is so intriguing to eat is made of Onions and locally called as “chammandhi”. This is a form of chutney that can be used as a dip or spread and goes well with just about anything. A simple recipe of this awesome food is given here.


Grated Coconut : ½ cup
Dried red chillies : 4 nos
Green chillies : 1 nos
Shallot onions : 4 sliced
Ginger : 1 tsp, chopped
Tamarind : size of a small lime
Salt : as needed
Coconut Oil : as needed
Curryleaves : 3-5 twigs
Sliced Mangoes : 1 piece (Optional)
