Ghee rice – Kerala style

Time and again, we have seen about the richness of the Kerala cuisine. This food is no exception. This is a plain, simple and easy to make dish that can be taken with almost any curry. This awesome recipe is famous throughout Kerala and takes many forms as we travel the length.

The version presented here is called as: Malabar ghee rice. The ingredients needed for this recipe are:

  • Khaima rice or jeeraga shala rice – 2 cups
  • Cinammon
  • Elaichi
  • Cardamom
  • Pepper
  • Ghee
  • Salt
  • Thinly sliced onion – 3
  • Raisins and cashews ( For garnish)
  • Water – 4 cups
