Get those chemicals off your curry leaves!

Curry leaves are inevitable in South India’s cuisine. Curry leaves provide a variety of benefits to the body and adds flavour to the dish. But nowadays, like all plants, even these leaves are filled with pesticides and insecticides.

Even after washing multiple times, there is no guarantee that all the pesticides will be ridden off. This video gives two effective ways of removing pesticides and insecticides from these leaves.

  • Mix 20mL vinegar in 1L of water. Let the curry leaves soak in it for 20 minutes. Strain this mixture and then wash the curry leaves thoroughly in normal water.
  • Mix 20 gram dried tamarind in 1L of water. Let the curry leaves soak in it for 20 minutes. Strain this mixture and then wash the curry leaves thoroughly in normal water.

These two techniques are bound to take off all the chemicals from the leaves and leave you with fresh and healthy leaves.
